Sweet Treats – Saturday May 16th 2015

Sweet desserts and sweet music by local youth will be featured at Beckley’s 9th annual Sweet Treats dessert event planned for Saturday, May 16th. The event will be held in conjunction with Raleigh County Schools’ Day of the Arts. The musical performances are scheduled from 11 am to 3:30 pm and the dessert-tasting hours will be from noon – 3 p.m. (or while supplies last).  Activities will take place on the Beckley Intermodal Gateway Plaza (top level of parking facility) off of Neville Street.

Everyone is invited to visit the plaza to enjoy the free concerts by local students from seven schools.

Some of the desserts to be featured include brownies, cookies, fruit kabobs, donuts, apples, fruit cobbler, frozen yogurt, snow cones, marshmallows dipped in chocolate, cinna-melts, sweet tea, cupcakes, chocolate and more.

Attendees will purchase tickets for samples, and the dessert participants will collect their tickets in exchange for samples.  Dessert-tasting tickets can be purchased for $5 (includes a strip of five sample tickets that can be used for dessert / drink samples, and a Peoples Choice ballot). Tickets may be purchased during the event. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit the United Way.

The Neville Street Market will also take place uptown on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.
