Enjoying Friday’s In the Park

Fridays in the Park – Beckley Events committee invites everyone to attend their 25thAnnual Friday in the Park series.  The concert series is held weekly from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., through September 4th, weather-permitting, at Word Park on Neville Street.  Food vendors offer lunch items (bbq, chicken, hotdogs, tacos, baked goods) for sale.  Entertainment during the month of June includes performances by Peyton Alexis,Alan Kinsler & Crimson River on June 5th offering gospel / country music. On June 12, country singer Billy Payne will be featured.  Then on June 19, Darrell Ramsey (also known as Double D) will perform a variety of music including some songs with a West Virginia theme for the state’s birthday weekend. The Beckley Area Women United in Christ will provide music on June 26.

Neville Street Market – The Neville Street Market will be open on Saturday, June 6th and June 20th (1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month) from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. The market is open for vendors to sell arts and crafts, antiques, flea market items, produce and other products. Tickety Boo Mercantile, a new business at 337 Neville Street, organizes the market.  Vendor spaces rent for $10 (discounts for multiple spaces or days) and $20 for food vendors.  Local charities benefit from 20% of the booth fees and June’s charity is Hospice. The market will be set up along a block of Neville Street and in the parking lot between the State Building and Word Park.  Neville Street traffic will be detoured beginning at 7 am for booth set-up. Annual June Motorcycle & Car Show – Beckley Events’ annual June Motorcycle & Car Show will be held on Saturday, June 27 along Neville & Main Streets from 5 – 8 p.m.The streets will be reserved for show line-up beginning at 5 pm and vehicle registration will take place from 5 – 6 pm. The vehicle entry fee is $15 and the first 75 registered will receive a t-shirt.

Everyone is invited to visit the show, check out the vehicles & enjoy free entertainment & activities.  Live music will be offered from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, followed by a specialty awards presentation. Several food vendors will be on hand and children’s activities will be available.

Also that evening, a special Simply Jazz & Blues performance is planned at The Raleigh Playhouse & Theatre.
